Your probe is not early at all.  You should contact Dorian Bennett at his 
realty office.  Until a few years ago, he solicited residents interested in 
hosting trick-or-treaters, mapped them out, then led a group walk to each 
location.  Alas, his daughter grew up too much for trick-or-treat.  Last I 
heard, he was looking for someone to pass the torch to, since the previous 
Halloween's list serves as the template for the next year.  My kids enjoyed 
the trek went we went.
