Tankless water heaters are ideal in a gas system that has no debris in it. After the submersion of our gas system in katrina a great deal of water and debris are in the pipelines. I't doesn't mater if your street flooded. Gas lines are buried and water and debris are under pressure. 9 out of 10 customers I personally know have had repeated problems with their tankless water heaters due to debris in the filters. I sell them, but don't recommend them. If you want tankless, go electric. -D
